Let me tell you….I understand! I absolutely LOVE blogging. When I started blogging, I honestly did not expect to love it as much as I do. With that being said, blogging is a lot of work! Especially when you are trying to turn your little corner of the Internet into a business. It has been nothing short of wonderful and overwhelming all at the same time.
During this month of my blogging journey, I have been focusing on becoming organized and making the blogging overwhelm manageable. So, I figured I would take some of the things I was doing and share them with you lovely bloggers out there trying to make an impact on the world!
5 Tips For The Overwhelmed And Discouraged Blogger

If there is one thing that I think is absolutely crucial, it is becoming organized. How do I become organized? I’m glad you asked! An easy way to stay organized is to utilize a blog planner. A good blog planner can help you create an editorial calendar for your content, keep track of your stats, track your expenses and so much more.
Each of these tasks are so important on their own and are vital to helping you grow. However, if you have a million different printables scattered all over the place (like I did), you will loose your marbles. Fast. I am absolutely terrible at keeping track of loose pages, so you better believe I went a little crazy before I found a system that works for me.
Having a blog planner can keep all of these important tasks (and pages) in one place. If you are looking for a blog planner or have one that is just not cutting it, I recommend this one from Restored 316 Designs. I absolutely adore their work and the passion they put behind their company.
2. Use A Content Scheduler
Is the phrase “content scheduler” greek to you? Because it was to me when I began blogging. I did not see why in the world I would need a tool that does what I can already do. However, a content scheduler does much more than post your content for you.
A good content scheduler can post to multiple social media sites for you and will choose the best time to post your content based on the previous engagement of your followers….yeah, I can’t do that. It took me a while to start using a content scheduler. But now that I do, there is no going back!
*UPDATE 6/21/17* Currently, I am using Hootsuite for my content scheduling needs. Hootsuite is free for up to three social media accounts. I found that this is perfect for me and the needs of my website. I love that I can schedule everything at one time and it posts for me throughout the week. This allows me to save time and work more effectively. It’s a win win!
For Pinterest scheduling, I use a completely separate tool called Tailwind. Tailwind allows me to schedule pins to multiple boards at the same time. One thing that I love about this tool is that it automatically chooses the best time to pin your pin based on your user engagement. By using Tailwind, Pinterest has become my number one source of traffic and has been one of the most vital tools to growing my platform.
3. Connect With Blogging Facebook Groups
Connecting with blogging Facebook groups has been an absolutely life saver! When I have a question I cannot find the answer to on Pinterest, I ask the members of the Facebook groups I am a part of. I have never seen a question go unanswered!
If someone can’t figure out the answer for you, there are so many people willing to help you research and come to a solution for your problem. Connecting with others in this way gives you solid support and surrounds you with people who are on a similar journey as you are.
If you are a Christian woman trying to impact the world through the ministry of blogging, I created a Facebook group just for you. You can request to join here! I would love to have you!
4. Focus On One Project At A Time
If you are anything like me, you have a million ideas in your head all looking to come out at once. When I sit down to write a post, my mind is generally swirling with ways to monetize in the future, products to work on, classes I could take, etc. This makes concentrating so difficult. It really helps for me to focus on one thing at a time.
For whatever I am working on, I sit down and write out a detailed outline full of ideas surrounding that particular topic. Physically writing down and working on one idea helps me focus on one thing until I am mentally prepared to move on to the next thing. Maybe this could help you too?
5. Remember Your “Why”
When we are lost in a sea of ideas, trying to become organized, and struggling to grow our traffic, it is easy to forget why you began blogging in the first place. For me, I began blogging because I want to encourage people with the life changing message of the Gospel. I want to share my story and show others that they too can find hope in their circumstances.
Maybe you need to write out your “why” and place it near your computer or stick it on your mirror. Remembering your “why” will give you the motivation to keep going, even when you are a bit overwhelmed and discouraged.
Blogging can be overwhelming
But the overwhelm can be managed! If you need some extra support or encouragement from a community of like-minded bloggers and believers, I encourage you to check out the Facebook group. We would love to have you!
